Tellency

Tellency manufacturing

Follow production through to its financial result.

Connect the production definition, material consumption and operational records to manufacturing costs. Tellency provides standard-cost and variance workflows alongside WIP and period-end review in the wider ERP.

Build a cost version around the production definition.

Versioned standard costs and rollups bring the material, labour and overhead assumptions together. Review the formula or BOM and routing behind a proposed cost before approving its use.

  • Roll up multi-level material and manufacturing cost components.
  • Review standard-cost versions and the effective assumptions for the item.
  • Compare the cost definition with the planned production output and routing requirements.

Investigate the cost of the order.

Order-cost reports connect production activity to the cost view. Inspect the quantities, rates and recorded activity behind a difference rather than looking only at a final total.

  • Review standard and recorded production components by order.
  • Inspect material price/usage, labour, overhead and yield-related variance categories where applicable.
  • Follow the production-order close and its configured financial postings.

Keep unfinished production visible.

Work in progress is part of the period-end manufacturing picture. Review WIP balances alongside production status, stock value and the general ledger.

  • Inspect WIP valuation for open production work.
  • Review overhead/labour absorption and true-up workflows against the configured accounts.
  • Compare stock value with the general ledger and investigate reconciliation differences.

Make month end a reviewed workflow.

Manufacturing period-end includes cost changes, revaluation decisions and evidence that the reports have been reviewed. Account mappings, dates and approval responsibilities should be agreed before rollout.

  • Review costing variances and the manufacturing month-end checklist.
  • Evaluate a standard-cost change and its inventory-revaluation effect.
  • Inspect journal balance, account mappings and posting dates with the finance team.

Use the right costing language in the evaluation.

Standard-cost accounting with actual activity and variance analysis is not the same as an unrestricted actual-cost ledger. Define the valuation method and reports your operation needs before choosing the configuration.

  • Bring an order with a usage difference, scrap and a labour or setup deviation.
  • Agree how material costs, WIP and finished-goods value should reconcile.
  • Scope currency, period control, accounting policies and specialist reporting in the implementation proposal.

Before the demo

Questions worth asking.

Does a BOM estimate equal the final production cost?

No. A BOM or formula estimate is based on its quantities, rates and overhead assumptions. Production activity, issues, output, scrap and close can create differences that need review through the costing and variance workflows.

Does Tellency promise every costing method?

No. Evaluate the implemented standard-cost, rollup, WIP and variance workflows against your accounting requirements. A specialist actual-cost ledger or other valuation method requires separate confirmation.

Who should attend a manufacturing costing demo?

Include both operations and finance. Follow the same order from the approved production definition through issues, output, close and the related journals and reconciliation reports.
