Manufacturing ERP comparison

Shortlisting a NetSuite manufacturing alternative?

Compare Tellency and the proposed NetSuite configuration using the same production cycle. Both offer manufacturing workflows; the decision depends on the scope, controls, integrations and implementation your operation needs.

By the Tellency team · Reviewed

Compare the proposed manufacturing stack.

NetSuite’s Advanced Manufacturing SuiteApp extends its manufacturing routing with planning, work instructions, shop-floor data capture and operational reporting. Tellency’s manufacturing implementation connects planning and production to the wider ERP.

  • List the core ERP, advanced manufacturing, demand-planning, quality and outsourced-production requirements.
  • For NetSuite, confirm which features and SuiteApps are included in the proposal.
  • For Tellency, confirm the enabled workflows, rollout configuration and implementation acceptance criteria.

Run the same demand and scheduling problem.

Tellency includes time-phased MRP, demand pegging, planned-order conversion, work-centre capacity and finite scheduling. NetSuite documents finite scheduling through Advanced Manufacturing. Compare the result and its explanation, not just the presence of a planning screen.

  • Use the same BOM/formula, demand dates, stock eligibility, receipts and lead times.
  • Include a holiday, a capacity overload, a changeover and a manual scheduling decision.
  • Trace the resulting planned orders, shortages and late orders back to their causes.

Follow one order from release to quality review.

Tellency provides an operator terminal with material issue, labour/time capture, weighing, production output and electronic batch-record workflows. NetSuite’s documentation describes mobile shop-floor data capture and work instructions in Advanced Manufacturing.

  • Inspect the instructions, material/lot selection and recorded execution at each step.
  • Test a required quality check, rejected lot and a rework or scrap decision.
  • Confirm the actual device, label, scale and integration requirements for either proposal.

Compare the financial result and operating controls.

A production workflow is incomplete until operations and finance agree its result. Tellency includes standard-cost rollups, order-cost and variance reporting, WIP and period-end manufacturing workflows.

  • Ask both vendors to show the close journal and stock/WIP reconciliation for the same order.
  • Review role permissions, approvals, separation of duties and audit evidence.
  • For AI workflows, inspect the tools, required access, usage charges and approval behaviour of the proposed configuration.

Put the complete transition into the comparison.

A software subscription is only one part of changing ERP. Migration quality, integrations, training and support influence the project as much as the visible feature list.

  • Identify historical records, open orders, lot genealogy and balances that need to move.
  • Agree the cutover, reconciliation, parallel review and rollback responsibilities.
  • Compare a written total project scope without assuming guaranteed savings, automatic migration or feature-for-feature parity.

Before the demo

Questions worth asking.

Is Tellency identical to NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing?

No blanket parity claim is made. Tellency has implemented manufacturing planning, execution, quality and costing workflows. Compare the configured scope and the exceptions your operation needs against the proposed NetSuite applications.

Does NetSuite support finite scheduling?

Yes. Oracle documents finite scheduling in NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing. Confirm the prerequisites, SuiteApp configuration and scope in your NetSuite proposal.

Can we migrate manufacturing data from NetSuite?

A migration requires assessment of accessible exports, custom records, products, manufacturing definitions, open transactions, balances and traceability requirements. Agree the mappings and reconciliation before a cutover.
