Tellency vs Shopify POS: Retail ERP Comparison
Shopify POS and Tellency can enter the same retail shortlist for different reasons. Begin with the store-and-online journey, then decide how purchasing, financial records and the wider business operation should connect.

| What to evaluate | Tellency | Shopify POS |
|---|---|---|
| Selling channels | Tellency retail workflows and its branded web store and shopping apps can share the ERP operation. | Shopify positions POS around connected in-person and online selling. |
| Back office | Finance, purchasing, inventory and customer workflows are part of the configured Tellency platform. | Define the accounting, purchasing and other business-system components in the proposed Shopify stack. |
| Locations and staff | Test the requested branch roles, stock transfers and register permissions. | Shopify documents location-level POS Lite/Pro management; verify the exact plan and staff requirements. |
| Payment and devices | Validate the proposed devices, payment collection and reconciliation for each market. | Confirm regional Shopify hardware, payment and subscription requirements in the current offer. |
Start with how the customer buys
Follow a product from an online listing to an in-store enquiry, checkout and a return. Decide which channels need to recognise the customer, the order and the stock position. A shared catalogue is useful only if the branch team can resolve the exception.
Include the supplier and finance teams
Use a purchase order, receipt and supplier invoice alongside the retail sale. Inspect how purchasing commitments, inventory quantities, payments and ledger records are maintained. If a separate application owns one of those facts, define the integration and reconciliation owner.
Scope branded shopping apps explicitly
Tellency offers client-branded iOS and Android shopping apps connected to its storefront. If an installed app is part of a Shopify proposal, identify the exact app solution, branding, data connection and release responsibilities. Do not confuse a staff POS app with an app for your customers.
Build a comparable location-and-cost model
List stores, registers, users, required roles, payment volumes and online channels. Include software, hardware, payment charges, implementation and integrations. A per-user ERP price and a location-based POS package require a common business scenario before their totals can be compared.
Use your own retail acceptance examples
Bin Saeed’s confirmed Tellency use covers POS, inventory and procurement; Ajwa’s covers broader supermarket ERP operations. Use your own assortment and policies to test stock shortages, a return, customer balances and the finance result. These customer references are not claims that either customer uses every ecommerce feature.
Questions before you choose
Is Shopify POS the same product category as a full ERP?
It is a retail selling solution. Compare the full proposed application stack when finance, purchasing, production or other ERP requirements are part of your decision.
Can Tellency provide our own customer shopping app?
Yes. Client-branded iOS and Android shopping apps are available as part of the scoped ecommerce offering.
