Start with the legal entities and operating locations
Record the entities, branches, warehouses, users and reporting relationships. A simple organisation can still have complex stock or production requirements. Establish which transactions and approvals must cross locations before choosing a system.
Test the product and purchasing lifecycle
Use an item with a supplier order, a short receipt, a transfer and a return. Tellency supports staged stock-transfer and purchasing workflows. Compare the document status, permitted roles, quantities and downstream reports in each proposed configuration.
Include production where it affects the decision
For a manufacturer, use a BOM revision, component cost estimate, work-order transition and a quality failure. Ask the team to demonstrate the exact outcome. Planning, specialist scheduling and third-party equipment require their own acceptance criteria.
Compare AI through a business action
Ask an authorised agent to prepare or progress a supported document, then inspect its inputs and resulting status. Repeat a refused action and an approval-required action. Evaluate the capabilities actually included in the SAP and Tellency proposals rather than assuming an AI label establishes parity.
Compare the complete implementation commitment
Include subscription or licence, hosting, environments, migration, training, reports, integrations and support. Identify the owner of updates and custom work. Choose the proposal that fits the required workflow and operating responsibility, with costs made comparable in writing.
